The seascape as a physical place is capable of evoking overwhelming experiential, emotional and contemplative responses. As a subject within photography and painting, it provides the artist with detail, diversity, complexity, motion, and an emotional experience unique to the environment.
Alex explores the seascape as a site for visual documentation and interpretation. Using painterly modes of abstraction, he photographs the motion and textures of the water’s surface to challenge visual perception and offer a new emotional experience for the audience.
